Soil movement due earthquakes, changes in permafrost, and shifting of embankments near river crossings are some of the factors that can be measured using FOX-TEK sensors. As the sensors measure movement using light and fiber optic cable, placement hundreds of meters or more from a central monitoring point is easy, making data collection practical. FOX-TEK can also place other fiber optic sensors in foundations, or on a structure’s surface, enabling the monitoring point to provide both structural and surrounding earth condition measurements.
